Jonathan Parks
Jonathan Parks, FAIA, balances rationalism with romanticism. Dedicated to connecting people with place, he passionately champions community identity through urbanism, architecture, and preservation while fostering well-being for a more resilient, equitable, and zero-carbon future in a changing world.
As Founder and Principal-in-Charge of SOLSTICE Planning and Architecture and previously, JONATHAN PARKS ARCHITECT, Jonathan has led a dynamic team of innovators for over two decades. Specializing in commercial, residential, institutional, and hospitality projects, SOLSTICE is recognized for its visionary approach to sustainable design, urban planning, and historic preservation.
A leader in environmental stewardship, SOLSTICE has designed multiple LEED Platinum-certified buildings—some of the most energy-efficient in the nation—accounting for 25% of all LEED Platinum buildings in the Sarasota region. The firm’s impact is further underscored by over 125 design awards, including the 2024 National AIA Honor Award in Urban Design, as well as accolades from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Docomomo U.S., and the U.S. Green Building Council.
Beyond new construction, Jonathan is passionate about historic preservation, particularly renowned for restoring mid-century modern buildings by Paul Rudolph and other pioneers of the Sarasota School of Architecture. His design direction and advocacy ensure that these architectural landmarks remain relevant and celebrated in contemporary design discourse.
In 2025, Jonathan was elevated to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows—an honor held by less than 3% of AIA members. Originally licensed in architecture in 1990, Parks’ early career at Centerbrook Architects and Planners saw him working alongside pioneers in sustainable and regional design William Grover, FAIA, Robert Harper, FAIA, and the legendary Charles Moore, FAIA, often considered the father of postmodernism. Originally from Amherst, NY, Jonathan earned his graduate degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.
Today, Jonathan and SOLSTICE continue to shape the built environment with a deep respect for the past and an unwavering vision for a sustainable, design-forward future.
