Architecture Sarasota’s Moderns That Matter: Sarasota 100 has launched!
This local non-profit “stewards the legacy of the Sarasota School of Architecture and provides a forum for education, advocacy and celebration of good design in the global built environment.”
Under the leadership of Morris (Marty) Hylton III and the Board of Directors, this new initiative recognizes 100 places and spaces that give Sarasota its sense of place and character. It must have been a huge undertaking and we certainly raise our hats to the countless hours and efforts of the staff at Architecture Sarasota and the team, with book design and graphics by Studio Craig Byers.
On March 20th, 2024 Architecture Sarasota held an opening announcement revealing the list, the exhibit, Moderns that Matter website, and even a book! They categorized these 100 places and spaces into 10 categories, including Civic, Commercial, Culture & Arts, Educational, Multi-family Residential, Neighborhoods & Districts, Recreational, Single-Family Residential, Spiritual, and Public Space.
There were 581 nominations from the public. In the list of top 10 nominated places was one of our projects, Rosemary Square!
Here is a list of the twelve SOLSTICE projects which made the list:

Congratulations to the team at Architecture Sarasota. We are proud to call this region our home and you’ve gone a long way to recognize and honor what makes it beautiful. One of our favorite quotes from the night was spoken by Marty Hylton, “You can’t save what you don’t know.”
